A charity concert organised by the Pontifical Mission was staged on November 21, 2023, at the Konzerthaus in Vienna. Four priests from all corners of the world rocked the stage.

The Konzerthaus at Lothringerstraße 20 hosted a special musical treat on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. At this year’s Missio charity concert, “Concert for Peace,” four priests from all over the world performed under the banner of peace. They sang well-known pop songs and rap, as well as pop hits and spiritual songs.

People are suffering from violence, terror, and war all across the world. Missio and its project partners are trying to provide sustainable help on the ground. “The terrible news from the Middle East is breaking over us every day,” says Missio National Director Karl Wallner.

Decades of conflict, complicated civil wars, and terrible natural disasters, such as the earthquake in Syria in February, would not allow the region to calm down. “Missio Austria is doing all it can to support the people on the ground.” The benefit concert is intended to support the people in Syria.

Four international priests
The goal of the four priests playing at the concert is to symbolise the Pontifical Mission Society’s global solidarity with the Church. Father Manuel Sandesh from India, for example, has been living in Vienna for ten years. He is known for his unconventional music videos on social media.

Filipino priest Marcelo Sahulga has lived in Vienna for 20 years. He found his faith through his passion for music. Sahulga presented songs that tackled the rich cultural heritage of his country, the Philippines. A number of Filipinos from Vienna were present during the concert. Priest and pastor Jerome Ambarusi composes and writes the lyrics for his songs himself. He uses the proceeds to support a mission station in Kenya. Pastor Stephen Egwu from Nigeria, known on YouTube as “Padre Steve”, is a passionate singer. The Franciscan priest and YouTube star Fr. Sandesh Manuel also rendered popular Austrian and spiritual songs.

Sound engineer and music producer Elias Stejskal took over the musical direction of the concert.
